I DID IT!!! I did my very first bikini wax and it actually went okay! Colleen was generous enough to be my guinea pig and it was nice having someone I know as my first client. I was a little nervous, but once I draped her, I relaxed a little. I think I was more nervous about the draping than anything else, but it really wasn’t that bad. Once I had her draped, I just concentrated on removing the hair. My first pull was bad though! I didn’t trim the hair and not only did I pull the strip in the wrong direction, it was one of those slow pulls! I don’t think I put the wax thin enough. I felt like I was going in slow motion and I felt awful! I immediately put my hand on the area to hopefully stop any pain she was about to feel, but she said it didn’t hurt. It went a lot smoother after that, and Colleen said it didn’t hurt at all. I think that’s a really good compliment considering it’s a really sensitive area!
I also did a facial using galvanic for the first time. Not as scary as I thought it would be. It was really confusing when learning about it in our book, but now that I did it, it makes so much more sense.
Next week we learn a facial using an organic skin care line, and Colleen and I are finally supposed to see the microdermabrasion demo that we missed. All in all in was a good day. Doing a bikini wax was the one thing I was most nervous about, and it feels really good to have gotten over that fear.

Kathleen: I’m definitely getting used to waxing and I’m not as nervous about it as I was before. I still need lots more practice, but I try to learn from my previous mistakes. I have been told that if I work in a spa, most of my time will be spent waxing so I am trying to prepare myself for that. Now that summer is pretty much here, I’m sure I’ll be getting lots more practice at school! Thanks for commenting!
