Last night in class, I got a lot done and I got five sign offs. My boyfriend came in and I gave him a machine back treatment with a sea mud mask to help treat his acne in that area. I did a thorough cleansing with a decongestant cleanser and used a large exfoliating brush to get the dead skin cells off. When I looked through the Wood’s lamp, I saw that his back was rather oily and congested, so I knew this treatment was needed. He also has several moles that I recommended a dermatologist should look at sometime in the near future.
I let the steam go on his back for about 10 minutes, and then we did some extractions, as well as high frequency to really help cleanse the skin and get rid of bacteria. I followed with a soothing, relaxing massage and then we applied the sea mud mask.
After letting the mask set and thoroughly dry, I removed it with damp, cool towels. To close, I did a light massage with some oil-free moisturizer, and he was ready to go. When I looked at his back this morning, the redness and inflammation of some of the acne had definitely died down, so it looks like the treatment helped a lot.
After he left, my friend Nancy and I grabbed a wax room so I could wax her underarms, eyebrows and lip. I’m not really sure what it is about underarms, but they are my favorite thing to wax. I used a pink cream wax that I haven’t used before, and I have fallen in love with it. It was such a nice, clean wax and it came off really easily. I got all the hair off using two strips on each side and I only had to tweeze maybe two hairs. I am definitely going to use that wax from now on. Nancy told me she thinks there is aloe in it as well, which makes it a little more soothing to the client’s skin.
I am glad I got to work with some new products that I have not tried before, and I am glad all my treatments were successful! Always a good feeling!

Hey, I enjoy waxing arm pits also and I have just recently started using the hard wax to do it. I have found it so much easier and faster. Thanks!

Hey, I deffinately agree with Erin that hard wax is better on the arm pits. But it is also what you prefer while waxing. The next time you do the back treatment on your boyfriend use warm towels to get the mask off, he will love it, the guys love the pampering part, they just dont want to admit it.

Allyson - I would love to try the hard wax. I have heard such great things about it. We do have it at our school, we just have to let our teachers know if we want to use it. I usually finish his back treatments with the cooler towels to close the pores…..I would say they are more warm than anything though. He loves the treatment! Thank you for the comment.

Just wondering, but is this Cirepil wax? Elvarose? Thanks!

if it’s not, try it. It is absolutely wonderful for the small areas. Especially the underarms! I use this on my clients who complain of breaking out and I have yet to hear a complaint. You can go with the elvarose/ a blue wax, both by Cirepil and both are hard waxes that are used under low heat. Love them! I purchased them at the SF face and body show.

I have worked with many different types of wax. From hard wax to the Satin Smooth. I absolutely love the Satin Smooth. Its creamy and gentle. The funny thing is this same wax can be found at Sally’s under a different name!

hi colleen, i just started using satin smooth wax and it’s great! hoever in esthetics school we used cirepil and that too is awesome, so do try it! On the subject of the back facial , the cool towel to close the pores is better because the warm towel is great , but it openes back the pores which defeats the purpose of the mask.

I use the blue hard wax by cirepil. I have been using it for 3 years at the spa I work at. It is amazing and grabs those coarse stubborn gray hairs. I use it on the face, bikini and for underarms. It is great because you can go over an area with it if necessary and hardens quickly. Your clients will love it. It is much less irritating on the skin than soft wax.

We use Satin Smooth at my school and I like it. I understand that most people use hard wax on faces, underarms and bikinis. Our school doesn’t use much hard wax and I’m not getting experience using it. Any advice on how to get experience using hard wax once I get out of school. I plan to open my own spa.
