Last night, we saw a body wrap demo. I was really grateful for the demonstration; I took good notes and I feel ready to perform the treatment on a client. We did see a demo on this a long time ago, but most of the girls agreed that we needed a refresher course. Our teacher made a comment about how she can’t think about this treatment too much, or she starts to feel like she’s giving someone a bath. While this is very funny, it’s also very true! It is a very personal and intimate treatment, but if done well, I can definitely see how this would build a client’s trust level with you and make them come back for more treatments in the future.
We learned that some skin care companies require in their protocols that the client flip over during the treatment, and some do not. We were told that it’s also more of a preference, and we should really consider what is comfortable for us and our client. We were shown how to dry brush the client, and also how to work product on the stomach in a clockwise direction so as not to upset the client’s stomach. For those clients who want a facial added in, we learned when to incorporate that and also how long to leave the client wrapped if they are getting a stimulating treatment, like one with paprika for cellulite, as opposed to a more calming, hydrating treatment that would be more for moisturizing purposes.
Since we do not have showers at our school, we remove the product from our client with hot, damp towels. It was nice to see the demo because it’s hard to picture a treatment like this going smoothly unless you really know what you’re doing. Privacy is the key issue in this case and I want to make sure my client is at ease throughout the whole process. Does anyone have good body-wrapping tips or experiences to share?
