The office is getting ready for our Face & Body tradeshow this weekend in San Francisco. I sit next to our Events department, and I see on a daily basis what it takes to put on a show like this. It’s a huge undertaking that takes a whole year of planning. Between our Events department and the staff at Skin Inc. magazine, they put on a great event every year.
In 2004 and 2005 I was fortunate enough to be able to go and see first-hand what it’s really like to work a tradeshow. I worked the on-site registration area and it was nonstop work for four days. We would meet at 6:30 each morning and we wouldn’t get back to our hotel rooms until later in the evening each night. It was exhausting work, but we managed to have a little fun. And, I learned a lot from the experience.
Tradeshows like Face & Body are a great way to see in person what’s new in the industry, get some education, talk to the many exhibitors that are there and network. The two years I worked the show, I remember looking around and thinking how I wanted to work in this industry. Now, here I am, three years later in esthetics school and about to graduate. Who would’ve thought? :)
I won’t be attending Face & Body this year, but if any of you are going, look for Colleen’s and my life-size cardboard cutouts. Let me know if you went. I’d love to hear all about it!
